Comfort and Convenience

The 2019 Ford Explorer offers buyers five different trim levels to choose from: the base model, XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum.  Ford offers a wide range of features for their vehicles, and the Explorer is no exception. All models are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, and all models are available with all-wheel drive. Other convenience features include Bluetooth, a USB port, rearview camera, Ford’s Sync voice command system, a 4.2-inch central display, 18-inch wheels, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Of course, if you choose to move up in trim levels, you will have even more bells and whistles available to you. Some of our favorite features include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a larger central infotainment center with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration capabilities, and power-folding third-row seats.

Safety and Technology

If you’re looking for an SUV for your family, chances are safety is top of mind for you. Ford has you covered with the Ford Safe and Smart package. This package comes with lane-keeping assist, automatic windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the Explorer five stars in every category except rollover, which is not uncommon for SUVs. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet rated the vehicle.

Performance

Ford gives you three engine choices in the 2019 Ford Explorer. A 3.5-liter V-6 engine is standard and puts out 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. Another option is the 2.3-liter turbo-4 with 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The Sport and Platinum trims come equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine which is rated at 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft which makes for an exceptional driving experience.

All Explorers use a 6-speed automatic transmission regardless of which engine you choose. Unless you select the twin-turbo V-6, you’ll have the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  The twin-turbo V-6 comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Overall the Explorer is a very smooth ride and handles imperfect New York roads with ease. You’ll have the option to pick and choose which features you want in your new 2019 Explorer ensuring that you will get the perfect vehicle for you and your family!
