Review: Edge Sport 2019

600 × 335Drivers in upstate New York who are looking for a reliable crossover vehicle should definitely have the new Ford Edge on their list. Ford is continuing to put out sleek vehicles that are loaded with the must-have tech features and top-of-the-line safety features and the Ford Edge is no different. Read on to learn all about what makes the new Ford Edge one of our favorite midsize SUVs on the market.

What’s New for 2019?

The Ford Edge remains relatively unchanged for 2019 – if it’s not broken, why mess with it?! Ford has given the crossover a new look with updated lighting elements, a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new wheel designs.

Ford retired the Edge Sport model but in 2019 have replaced it with the brand-new Ford Edge ST, which is exclusively built with a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine.

All Edge models in 2019 come standard with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite. Ford Co-Pilot360 offers a terrific selection of driver-assistance features including blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beams, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.

The Ford Edge is fun to drive, comfortable, and easy to handle; it navigates corners nicely and turns with the road with ease. The 2019 Ford Edge comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and makes 250 horsepower. This engine generally provides most drivers with plenty of power but if you’re looking for an SUV with a little more pep, you could consider the Edge ST that we referenced earlier. The ST gets a 335-hp twin-turbocharged 2.7-lliter V-6 engine and all-wheel drive.

The fuel economy for the 2019 Ford Edge is another reason we love this vehicle. The standard four-cylinder models are rated by the EPA for up to 29 mpg highway and the sporty ST model is rated by the EPA for up to 26 mph highway.

Technology & Convenience

The 2019 Edge offers a lot of convenience for drives and passengers alike. There is plenty of room for four adults to fit comfortably and the cabin is nicely designed without being either cheap looking or over the top. You’ll also be able to fit plenty of cargo in the trunk and if you need any more room you can fold the rear seats down to really maximize space. The 2019 Edge offers convenient storage cubbies to keep your cargo organized and offers more room than a lot of its competitors.

If technology is important to you, you’ll be able to get that with the new Edge. Of course there is an infotainment system and a USB charging port but, new for 2019, all Edge models come standard with a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can also step up into a higher trim level to receive features like Sync 3, AppLink, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All in all, Ford packs a lot of impressive features into this crossover and we think you’ll be even more impressed when you take it for a spin. Give us a call today at Friendly Ford and we’ll set you up with your new 2019 Ford Edge!
